Sheb, old by that time, plays a Cavalry Sergeant in _Silverado_. His line:
"I had a gal do that do me, it didn't make her my wife." is a keeper.
This song, too, is a keeper!! Thanks for reminding me -- I hadn't heard it in 30 years!

I inherited this old, cracked, worn-out 45 from my older brothers in 1965. It skipped 3 grooves so I never knew about an entire half a verse of this song until hearing it just now.
Listening to it now 40 some years later, all I can think of is what jug of tainted moonshine or batch of skunkweed growing behind the barn ever caused someone to dream up this great old song.

Little known to others who have heard Sheb sing is that he also was a bronc rider:) He was absolutely one talented dude, acting singing and rodeo, now what else can you do with one life:)))

I always liked this recording. I used to play it on the air at KVEG Radio in 1963 when I was a deejay there.

This song is true. Sheb and my Dad used to watch their Dad's come home after a night of being out on the "town" when they were boys in Oklahoma. He was just Sheb and used to visit us in Alaska where he came up with the character "Ben Colder". He got off the plane, looked at my Dad and said, "I've never been colder in my life!" His sense of humor was his personality and he wouldn't have been Sheb without it.
I bought this on a 45 way back in 1962 on the MGM label. I always felt Sheb could have been a pretty decent country singer instead of messing about on his Ben Colder persona.
