Well, there are all the people who died because they took "alternative" treatments instead of real ones - like those who got a chiropractic massage to treat lung cancer, etc. And drugs can have negative side effects because they do something - I'll take a 99.999% chance of benefit to 0.001% harm over 0% benefit any day. Treating symptoms? With illnesses that are currently incurable what else would you do? Big money? "Alternatives" charge far more.

"big pharma" != science based medicine. How about all the quacks in "big holistic"? How about all the horrible swindlers who rob the credulous of lots of money for even less results? They're just as profit-driven and unethical as the worst pharmaceutical reps.

While the treatments satirized in this clip may have some legitimate place in the world of health care, comprehensively viewed, I think we can all agree that the emergency room is NOT THAT PLACE.

Excellently done. Traumatic injury interventions like gunshot wounds (GSW) or motor-vehicle accidents and the like are wonderful examples of precisely how actual science-based medicine can be put to the test. From medical imaging, to diagnostics, IV drug/fluid interventions, radiological interventions, to surgery, all the pieces tend to work EFFECTIVELY.

Compare that to holistic/ homeopathic and modalities of their collective ilk -- oh, those modalities don't work.

Nobody recommends any of these treatments for people suffering from violent injuries so it is is dishonest to represent alternative medicine in that way. Meanwhile big pharma teaches our doctors how to treat symptoms and get free trips for prescribing their expensive and dangerous drugs. There's big money in that medicine. How many people died last year from negative side effects of drugs? And how many people died from aromatherapy or any alternative medicine treatments?
