  • I'm guessing this is "The Giant Pancake"

    t/x 24th March 1976

  • The episode is "Rupert & The Giant Pancake", the 10th ep. of Series 4 - date: 24/03/76. The only reason the clip's in b/w is because it's an old gen. copy. Old videotape recordings deteriorate over a course of time and some, as here lose their colour from reduplication. It's definitely a 1976 ep. The series ran from '70 - '77. Some of these classic 70s ep's were released in the 80s on pre-rec VHS video tape - now very rare - even on eBay. Jackie Lee's 'Rupert the Bear' song was released in 1970.

  • im thinking it sthe late 60s too as alot of rupert toys were made in the late 60s and early 70s i think mary turner is on the production company i think she came from thunderbirds and was also involved in clopper castle which was in the late 60s too

  • Raggerty fukin ROCKS!!!!!!!

  • i agree thinking back to the events in my life when these were on. i dont remember ever seeing them in colour and we had our first colour set in 75. mind i was too old to watch it by then, but definetly on our old black n white bush pre school 1972

  • This version of Rupert the bear was never made in the late seventies.

  • The eagle eyed will see that there are occasional glimpses of colour in this clip - clearly a 70s episode.

  • I understand all the ITC/ATV Rubert Bear shows were transmitted between 1970 and 1979. All were produced in colour - the reason this is black & white is probably cos it was recorded on a very old form of video, there's a lot of colour Top of the Pops etc that were recorded in the mid-70's that exist only in b&w cos they are preserved through an old home recording
