@ignoranceandwant Because the two Titanic albums didn't have nearly all the music in the movie, and honestly, Yared's score to Troy wasn't that great.
@Schnurpselbacke1 After knowing some studio musicians who worked in Hollywood, including a now- deceased keyboardist/organist who worked at Fox for Goldsmith and Williams in the 60's-70's, it sounds plausibly "Hollywood Producer-ish." On the other hand, I consider the source. Without confirmation from either of the horses mouths, it's another one of those amusing Hollywood music stories.
@Schnurpselbacke1 I didn't know about the "Timeline" release...thanks. According to an article I read in FilmScore Monthly a couple years ago, Al Sylvestri was engaged to compose the score for the first "Pirates." It was rejected because, as the story went, it sounded too much like "pirate music." Whether it was actually recorded, or ever went beyond the mockup stage, I don't know. According to the article, Hans Zimmers music was accepted because "it sounded more like pirate music."
Titanic soundtrack is one of the best music scores of all time! FACT!! BLOODY GD WORK MR J HORNER!!

This all sounds to me like samples. Good samples, but still samples. Lifeless, soulless. But the suite of it is well arranged.
Still, I rather prefer the original re-recording with orchestra in it.
