I'm 45 and going to get a left adrenal w/3cm pheo removed dec 23 08, so this is VERY interesting to me. Thanks very much for posting it. I'm really looking forward to getting rid of this thing, it's been trying to kill me for over a year (it's very active) and took a while to figure out. Education rules! Alpha blockers are awesome too.

I'm curious how leathermenace did with surgery? I will inquire about genetic test per sarahrochelle123 suggestion. thanks!

I am 28 I had a large pheo removed 3 years ago and have another one growing now. we discovered we have a gene mutation the SDHB. If you have a pheo,...you MUST get genetic testing! They can do it at NIH in Marlyland, It is vital for your family you get tested to see if it can affect others in your family. @ of my children have the gene. THey must be monitored. This diease is soooo hard on people but there are always something out there that is worse. Dr. Vivian Rodriguez in HoustonTX. THE BEST

Pheochromocytoma is a relatively rare cause of

secondary hypertension , among others.Has episodes of palpitation, sweating due to bursts of catecholamines release.Diagnosed by 24hr urine adrenaline & noradrenaline level which is elevated unlike paraganglioma with similar symptoms but only noradrenaline elevated

i have one right now and looking to get it taken out any suggestions , i have the high blood pressure and catacholamines norepinephrin and all that jazz, am pretty scared too

This was very interesting.. however from what I've learned from personal experience in dealing with one, is that they don't always occur within the medulla of the adrenal gland, and about 10% of people with them find out they are malignant. I also think that some of the adjectives you chose to describe it were a little well.. let's just say that most people who have to deal with these don't like their tumor called nice. Other than that.. thank you for sharing.
