"Methought I saw my late espoused Saint..."

Milton wrote this Sonnet following the death of Katherine, his second wife, who died from complications following childbirth. Milton, blind at the time of his marriage, had never seen the face of his wife, but believed he would see her in Heaven.

From the 1984 series, "Six Centuries of Verse", Episode seven "Milton: 1608-1674".

A beautiful poem written by the greatest of poets and read by the finest of actors. What a great combination! I am struck with awe.

Besides that this is a rather creepy recording, sound only comes from the right speaker - it blows
