Hot off the presses, this video features Lindy demonstrating his new Hum Cancelling P-90's in a mid 50's Gibson ES225. The guitar is a workhorse test mule for Lindy and it features Hum Cancelling P-90s in the neck and bridge, but a traditional P-90 single coil in the middle. This video provides a great comparison between the two. We really love these new pickups! This demo was recorded using a V.V.T. Lindy Fralin model combo amp, rated at 38w and featuring 1-15" Eminence speaker. The mic used was a Sennheiser 609 which was draped in front of the amp, although the lavalier mic that Lindy is wearing is picking up some of the ambient sound from the room. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  • The hum-cancelling P-90s are impressively quiet, but it's not possible to tell from your demo how they will perform in an application requiring ultra-clean tone. It's probably due to your amp settings, but even before you hit the stomp-box, it sounds like there's a bit of distortion in the sound. I'm considering these as replacements in a baritone guitar, for which I need super-clean, sparkling sound. If you could do a demo with clean amp settings, that would be helpful.

    Thanks!

  • @freevito Demos take a lot of time from conception to posting but, I did record a cleaner version in my archtop Gibson 225. It should be up soon. I used 42 gauge wire instead of 43 and they are cleaner than the ones we sell most everyone. Original P-90s ranged from under 7k to over 9.5 and the lower ohm ones are cleaner. Our regular HCP-90s are like a 7.8 neck and a 8.2 bridge, the 42 gauge version would be like a 6.8 neck and a 7.6 br. Lindy

  • I have a 1957 les paul special that I am deeply in love with but the noise makes it unusable in many pro situations. I need to get a new axe because I can't bear to change her, she's perfect besides the hum. I love the p90 sound, these are close, and I'm curious

  • @jaikwillis Our hum-cancelling P-90s will fit with no mods to the guitar but solder joints. If you don't want to change that one take your time finding something with P-90 routs or have it made. I have both a custom Les Paul Special and a Tele body with the HCP-90s and love them both. Lindy Call any time.

  • I think the HC P-90s are good foe everything. They have a lot of midrange but with single coil type top end. They are not as dirty as a great many real ones. Lindy

  • What is your pole pieces height on this P90 hollow guitar ? Great sound...

  • @BELOROYAN This is a ES 225 Gibson from the late 50's. On this video it has 11 thru 48 strings with a plain G. I always set the poles by ear rather than measuring. Normally with this set of strings the "D" is the tallest and the rest are set by ear. Lindy

  • @FralinPickups Hi Lindy: Thanks for your reply. I understand that it takes time to do a demo. Thanks for responding with such useful information. I look forward to seeing the "cleaner version" demo. It's also good to know about the pickups with the 42 gauge wire.

I recognize that the vast majority of players these days want hotter pickups, which explains why so much guitar music pegs the grunge meter. Clean is out of fashion, it seems.

    Thanks again!

  • 1) Awesome Cream lick you threw in

    2) Your pickups are fucking awesome

    3) You look like your pickups sound, quite ****in' badass

  • I was just wondering how that bigsby and the graph tech saddles are working for you. Does it stay in tune when using the bar? Is there enough downward pressure, or do you have any issues with the strings popping out of the saddles?

  • Are these pickups good for pop/punkish stuff (rhythm, not lead playing)? Have always been looking for a P-90 bridge with no noise for pop punk stuff. Think Green Day, etc. Guitar in question is a double cut junior.

    Thanks
