foggyfreinds. org is a very friendly forum for ME/CFS and other stuff.
I've been ill for 14 years (first few in dark noiseless room) - never been told I am somatising - there is every chance you are biomedically unwell.
Get the tests and in the meantime try and rest and do as much relaxation as possible.
Getting such strange symptoms is very upsetting - especially when there is so little understanding.
Please be kind to yourself.

@bodycrying You know, the thing that helped me feel better after my last relapse (that lasted four months and had me in the hospital 3 times--once I was taken in an ambulance cause I couldn't drive) is that I was validated by a psychiatric doctor that this is a serious, REAL thing. It is, and it may or may not be related to an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. I've been telling people I have "Briquet's Syndrome" since that name for somatization makes it sounds less like it's just hypochondria

I'm having the same symptoms: severe fatigue, numbness, blindness, inability to breathe, arrhythmia, stomach pains, constipation, numbness, inability to walk, tingling, pain, buzzing feeling in legs, loss of feeling, dizziness, lump in throat, blurry vision, seeing illusions in the carpet patterns, cold extremities, . It is horrible. My best friend finally said You've been sick for years, either shut up about it or die already." I totally understand. I've been diagnosed with somatization.
Symptoms: Irregular heart beat, chest pain, low blood pressure, fatigue, nausea, numbness especially in face, pseudoseizures, carpal tunnel syndrome, orthostatic intolerance, muscle weakness, vertigo, breathing irregularities, cold sweats, hot flushes, low body temperature, widespread pain, jaw pain, TMJ, edema, cognitive difficulties..word jumbling, sensitivities to noise and light, sever headaches, digestive problems and the list goes on. All in my head...what about the mitochondria?

It is indeed real and for some of us suffering from SOMATIZATON, we develop syndromes such as CHRONIC FATIGUE AND FIBROMYALGIA. We come under SUBTYPES but the syndrome and the symptoms are real. We are only a subtype because of the somatization diagnois. I have found out I have low blood pressure. Ectopics on recovery from exercise and Orthostatic Intolerance. I can't walk without nearly fainting. We are mostly invisible sufferers and our distress is paramount..lack of understanding.

Dear micfishevyt, I am sorry that you are being misunderstood by people around you, I know how that makes you feel. Worse!! Also I have been researching and I find that somatization can be subtypes of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome but those syndromes exist for people with somatization as much as they do for others who suffer. It isn't in your head, although the brain patterns do change. To anyone who would ever challenge this, the door is open!
