Annual event for dogs and their owners, sponsored by the High Plateau Humane Society. Proceeds benefit the rescued animals of Modoc County. Is your dog's summer routine in a rut? If so, it's time to get his skills in shape for this year's Mutt Strut, a fun activity sponsored by the High Plateau Humane Society as a way pet owners and their dogs can strut their stuff. The fun begins Saturday, August 27 with a doggie parade around the Veteran's Park in Alturas at 9 a.m. A variety of events, including Best costume, best Fetch and Catch, most obedient and cutest puppy follow the parade while the small dog race promises plenty of excitement -- along with plenty of laughs.
