SPOILERS BELOW... watch the video first!!

A little background on this one. This time out we're following a group of Moccoan regulars that have been displaced in time and space, very similar to the first prelude at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqlgo94m6Sc. These guys struggle to come to terms with the new reality before them and even begin quoting passages from the Tonal to try to explain their whereabouts. They don't have long to figure things out as every one of them go down in a hail of laserfire except lone survivor Jonal Poole. But he's about to encounter some problems of his own...

I wanted to play around with camera movement, lighting and sound on this one to create a greater sense of mood for the underground world. You can see the first unedited pass in the recent Honky Jay's upload http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZXsuj5zlcc. I've found moving the HD camera with the smoothness that I want far more difficult than it was with the old tiny webcam. Since that first pass didn't turn out so well, I decided to add most of the lighting effects in post and just focus on moving the camera and figures. Ironically, my computer won't read the file format my camera saves HD footage to, so there is a resolution change right before we swing out to see the waiting robot. I used the lighting fx to cover it up ;)

I wanted to follow up this scene throughout several subsequent videos, and that may still happen. However, I'm trying to take Large Army more upscale and ensure that every piece in a given video is customized so as to avoid any potential issues with various toy companies. The next major work I would like to put into a few festivals as a completely original entity. These ambitions have caused substantial delays, so I may go ahead with the original plan anyway, in tandem with my new ambitions.

Originally I was going to immerse the viewer in the sounds of the underground world and use minimal music, kinda like Three on Base http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV0hph0QXDo. But I played around with dropping my NIN remix into the soundtrack and although it was developed completely independently of the video, it seemed to sync up nicely. Since the plot thread initiated here may or may not play out in the near future, I thought best to just leave it be as is. Especially since the rest of the song can be heard in the here and now at http://myspace.com/vfwing2. Hope you enjoy!
