The capture card I use in this video is a Diamond Multimedia VC500, but the setup should be generally the same for all capture cards. You can also use this same method for any console: Xbox, 360, PS3, Wii, Gamecube, NES, N64, and any system that uses RCA composite cables as an output to your TV.

PS3 and 360 do not normally come bundled with an RCA composite video cable. But you can buy an RCA composite cable from Gamestop that connects to a Wii, 360, or a PS3.

There are capture cards that record in higher quality formats, even up to HD, but the higher the quality the more expensive it is. And for youtube uploading, 480p does just fine.

I hope this tutorial was helpful! If you have any questions leave a comment and I'll reply as soon as I can! : )

  • ANSWER PLEASE!! what if you dont' have an output RCA socket on your T.V. is there any other way to play it on a secondary monitor?

  • @UltraNintenerd

There might be. If you could find a cable or adapter that could split the video output coming from your console's cable, then you could run one split to the tv, and another split to the capture card. RCA audio splitters should be easy to find. I'm not so sure about video though. Look it up online, maybe you'll find something. : )

  • @Vdeogamer Hey im fixing to buy a diamond multimedia Vc500 capture card also, but from ebay, when you put the capture card into the PC will the capture software come with it

  • @UltraNintenerd It depends on if they said they would include it in the sales description. Better double check before you buy it. It might be avaiblable on Diamond Multimedia's website, but I'm not for sure. Check your ebay thing first, and then if they're not including it, check Diamond's site to see if it's downloadable. This capture card is ONLY compatible with windows! (just warning you!) : )

  • @TheMudlup48 Haha, Sounds like a plan! Price might vary from store to store, but for a cable such as that, it can't go over $20 if even $10. Glad I could help. Good luck on your walk through.

  • @Vdeogamer I used to have that issue with a flip video camera and I think the issue was only there in movie maker, so it might not be a serious thing...and basically any electronics store, any idea the price? And that's all I'll need :) can't wait, gonna start a FF X walkthrough

  • @TheMudlup48 Yeah, it's typically just plugged in directly as you said. But I like to have a second monitor cause it lags a little bit when viewing it on the computer. The cable could probably be found at most electronics stores, or in electronics sections in walmart and places like that.

  • Ok overall this video is helpful :) and im sure it's been answered before, but I'm really that lazy so where do you get the double RCA cables? Bc i have an easy cap(which is a capture card from my understanding) I just only have 1 RCA cable, so it can only plug in from a game system to the tv/vcr not into the easy cap

On a different note, do you think it could be possible to plug it in to the system itself and record that way??? Just thought of that :P

  • Please reply: Where can I get one and how much do they cost???

  • @MW3wiimaster13 Amazon.com is a good place to start. Just search capture card.
