so do you increase ur spirit bar by blocking

Yeah, you can increase your soul gauge by blocking right before he attacks you. The strategy i used in this video is also good if you're like me and dont feel like spending time upgrading your style and finding good items. I used Herb of Strength(the thing that makes your soul gauge increase easier) and Medal of Lancelot(which had no effect since the music was the same.)

i was fighting him in battel and he called me a sloopy sowards man so i got pissed and beat him without getting hurt and beat him in soward clash and got 5 stars

I could not believe how tough he was in this battle. When I did this, I just waited till he shot the energy blasts, jumped over them, and went in hacking and slashing. That was seriously the only time he was open for me.
