One more summer Olympic sports that has always been rich in the medal haul for Russia is artistic gymnastics. Moscow Region gymnast Aliya Mustafina is contending for a win in London. The 2010 World All-Around Champion has fully recovered after a serious injury which forced her to miss almost all of last season.
This week the 17-year-old athlete won the Russian Championships in Penza with style. And in May she will head to Brussels for the European Championships.
Later after that the coaching staff will determine who will be on the team for the Olympics.
[Aliya] "The hardest thing is probably to work day in and day out, because all of the days are practically the same. And its hard to endure that kind of monotone work, to have the patience".
