Really nice music. It's so interesting how the indian and european cultures have totally different approaches to double reed instruments. To think that the shenai and oboe are almost the same instrument is almost unbelievable.
Great music!

Aweful indeed! The sweet-sad tunesplayed by Shehnai get into the very soul of your being. So joyfull yet so meloncholic!! One never finds the lost borders between sadness and joy and hope and despair. The voice of Shehnai never fails to haunt the wayfarers of the wasteland. Ustad has blessed Shehnai with a life of its own. Bravo Ustad. The Maestero indeed.

Ustad Jee Plays Bhairavi Rare Clip 1980
was this show Nai Zindai Naia Jivan on BBC early Sunday mornings? I used to watch this as a kid growing up in Ireland, mainly because there wasn't actually anything else to watch on TV at that time, but as an adult, it probably accounts for my developing an interest and love for Indian classical music

Yes! Nai Zindagi Naya Jeevan / New Way New Life started the main ones off on a sunday morning. Others joined it later on. I got most of my 1980s stuff from there when home video recorders came out in the early 1980s.
