Yes it was all filmed in Iran, except for two interviews: with Shirin Neshat and Khosrow Hassanzadeh, which were filmed in Berlin where they were participating in a group show

"Far Near Distance" at the Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt

This was done for logistical reasons really, the Berlin show happened to be the most convenient moment for me to sit down and talk to them on camera about their work.

I made this a few years ago now.. the artists in the film are continuing to make work, in fact the "army veteran" guy Khrosrow Hassanzadeh has an exhibition of his new work opening in the B21 Gallery in Dubai right now.. Which is illustrative of the new trend; many of the artists are selling and showing their work through the explosion of independent galleries in Iran (esp Tehran of course) and abroad, particularly in Dubai.. :-)

That guy who was a army veteran is doing some interesting stuff. All this talk of war between the US and Iran is madness. With Bush leaving maybe we can have peace and be friends.
