The Nariel Band and friends playing for what I think is a figure of the Exions Quadrille. The backbone of the Nariel Band has always been the diatonic or button single row accordions. Here they are tuned in C. The inherent rythym of the band is excellent to dance to.

A highlight if the week is when visiting musicians join in. Here they are joined by a harpist, banjos, mandolin, concertina, keyboard , a whistle and even a largerphone. Together they make a unique and truly Australian sound...even if they are in this case playing an Irish tune.

The music is acoustic, the year before the band played an entire dance in a blackout only by lamplight... as the band leader said "over 40 years and we can still do it without power"

The Nariel Creek Folk Festival is Australia's oldest having started in 1963 and is held from Boxing day to New year in...you've guessed it Nariel creek!
