This is poor science. Not only have they failed to demonstrate resonance, they have failed to consider different ways of constructing a bridge. Traditionally, the situation would be a large army of men marching in step over a stone bridge built with an arch; totally different to a single man bouncing on a beam construction. Mythbusters have disappointed me here.

They understand so little science.
Any intelligent engineering graduate student can tell them what they are doing wrong.

@gromitnyc I'm more than happy to send you my full resume, not as an engineer, but I will include my academics which include several years of physics. Have you ever pushed a child on a swing? It's the same principal, did you not watch the video? It's pretty simple science

@steveecker Dear sir, If you are an engineer, please send me a list of all projects you have worked on in the past or will work on in the future. I want to make sure I avoid them. Get some education for goodness sake. Sincerely,

To everyone that says this has nothing to do with RESONANCE, Yes it does. Resonance is the tendancy of a system to oscillate at larger amplitudes at some points than others. As he pushed down he was storing energy, as he reflexed he converted that to kinetic then stored it as upwards force (the boards bent UP), then as he oscillated back down he had greater force. That's resonance, as he wasn't adding much energy to the system, but rather was using the existing energy gradually increased as he

Fatal resonate frequency to a structure? Nikola Tesla already proved that one. Earthquake Machine.

this has nothing to do with resonance!

rgwaw 2 should go to school first to learn a few things

Aww the army is so cute!!!!
so what they proved is the weaker you make a bridge the easier it is to break it
