Educator's Grandfather No Longer "Ghost of the Past"

Elaine Culbertson never knew her grandfather. All that changed when Elaine visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. There, she made an amazing discovery: documents containing details about her grandfather's life that she had never known before.

As Elaine said of her new findings about her grandfather,
"It made him into a real person for me, not a ghost of the past --someone that I had never met, someone that I was only told stories about. The fact that there were documents to prove that he had once lived, and that he had died, that was an amazing find for me."

The World Memory Project is changing lives already by building the world's largest online resource for information about individual victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution. Discover how you can help bring the truth to light and create a chance for family connections that transcend war and time.
