Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin made the most of his Oxford polish in trumping both PAS Shah Alam parliamentarian Khalid Samad and Perkasa chairperson Ibrahim Ali at a forum on the Malaysian political mindset, gaining somewhat favourable ground in the discussion on whether politics of ideology will replace politics of race.

  • bro,you are speaking from a rich Malay's son viewpiont.You are forgetting that the Malays were once in extreme poverty fighting for their beloved tanah melayu.Poor people need the resources to move forward and be successful.Otherwise,they cant break the chains of cycle of poverty,The present Malays have been empowered by the BN Govt to be in their present position and you bro are the byproducts of one.

  • 180 degree swing in rhetoric from his "Kita jumpa kita lawan" days. Now, this can be attributed to one of two things:

    1) After witnessing Tahrir Square and OWS - UMNO realizes that the old order politics is coming to an end and that it needs to evolve or face annihilation.

    2) Election season is near and they're desperate to exploit the niche centrist position that Pakatan has found. In other words - shrewd political grandstanding.

    I sincerely hope it's the former.
