  • Very nice! I googled E38 engine removal and found this. I have to remove the engine in my car and replace all the gaskets and fix leakages in the engine bay... I'm just debating weather or not it's worth it on a measly 3 liter version of this engine... don't have the money required for a 4 liter.

  • @DanniV8

Sounds like fun. Is that V6 or V8?

  • I just read the part in the bentley that says " ... it is easier to remove the engine than to remove the exhaust manifolds in the engine bay..."

This slideshow is perfect because your removing just what I need to remove.

So, it has been a month - is the motor back in the car yet? How is it working?

  • Great video! I have to remove my engine in the next couple of weeks. I Iike the idea of leaving the transmission in place instead of removing it like the BMW TIS says, nice to see that is easy to do. Also, glad to see you could remove the engine with both exhaust manifolds left on. Makes handling the manifold removal/installation easy with the engine on the engine stand.

I have the engine balancer with my hoist that I bought many years ago.

  • @BatByke : It is very helpful to use the tool that is attached to the engine hoist. Engine balancer? With that you can do it only by yourself.

  • @tonkabot : sorry, I don't check this e-mail address often. The engine is not back yet, I am putting back the valve stem seals and now the valves. Time and budget is limited now and I am doing timing and VANOS seals maybe.

  • thanks a lot , I was hoping someone would give a good description of how difficult this procedure is, I have to do mine in the spring, thanks again....
