How could nineteen people "dislike" this song? What's wrong with them? I am a die hard White Sox fan; but, I still adore this song. Steve Goodman was the consummate singer/songwriter and it shows in every nuance of this ditty. There is a tragic poignancy in realizing that Goodman never lived to see the Cubs succeed. There is nothing wrong with loving this song--no matter which team you favour. Liking this song just means that you are a TRUE Chicagoan!

Florida native here. About '92, got to Wrigley's to watch the Cubs go at the Diamondbacks. Sat near the Ernie Banks flag. Thought it the coolest when the crowd chanted throw it back, and the street urchins sailed the ball back over the ivy wall. My Cubby friend found me in a crowd of thousands, he was dressed in his Cub pajamas. I have a commitment to spread his ashes on Wrigley somehow. I enjoyed Chicago, walked from Lakeshore down to Wrigley, felt damn near at home.
