I read that the seatbelt configuration for the 'seventh' seat does not meet North American standards and that is why it is offered only as a 6-seater here.

I *HATE* these car manufacturers. To make darn well sure Americans don't get too much utility out of it, they have to make it a 6 person version instead of 7 in Europe.
Screw Mazda! I am *NOT* going to resort to buying a van or suv to get the utility I want.
Stop toying and manipulating us into buying vans and suvs!
