3rd gen Essendon member, but EJ was Mr Football when I was growing up and right through my adult life until his death. I was lucky enough to be on the admin staff at Altona Memorial Park on the day of his funeral and when his cortege drove through the grounds I was uncontrollably in tears. He was EJ, he was everything you loved and hated about football. He was Aussie. In another era he would have been the one to storm the trenches, kick butt and come back and have a beer and a laugh after.

He was an absolute gun both for the Bulldogs and the AFL.
From what I have heard and read about E.J he is regarded as arguably the best ever player.
