This one is for my new friends across the pond. This song has some major and minor sections in it, so it kind of makes me think that whoever wrote this, was both sad and happy about leaving. It's also been called Farewell to Erin, so maybe he was both sad and happy about leaving his girl.?

  • Great tune Gary.

Who is your teacher and when did you start learning to play the fiddle.?

    Vitally

  • Hey Vitally,

I don't have a teacher at the moment. I had a classical teacher from 6th to 12th grade. I set the violin down for 20 years, and picked it up again 11 months ago and though I'd play fiddle! I mostly read notes, but I can play by ear too! Thanks for the comments!

  • i play this VERY differently (but it is the same tune), i'll have to upload my version.

    great to hear!

  • Hi Gary

I posted on the same spot and it did not show for some reason, anyway you play great and could go to America Has Talent.

We are having a discusion on by ear playing or by note reading and playing and can not come to a conclusion which one is faster. Have to know the tune by heart I guess that makes the difference.

    Se you later . Vitally

  • Fine tune. I like it. It seems more like a jig than any other kind of tempo?

    Great fiddling.

  • Awesome ! :D good job guy !!

  • This is absolutely great! You are getting so good! 5*s from me!

    Gretsch'n

  • I really like the mixture of major and minor interludes. Super job as usual!

Erin is standard name for Ireland - it may be Gaelic. I suppose I should know (but don't) since my Great Grandmother was a Malone.
