5:05am I felt the entire house sway and shake. I heard a loud rumbling sound like I never heard before, not like a truck or anything. A 3.6 mag earthquake hit Maryland.

  • I felt it too. I live near Towson and I was awake at that time. I felt my bed shake and a few things jumped off my wall. It was pretty cool since it's the first earthquake I've ever felt.

  • @RobinScreamItLoud

I live in Towson and my whole house shook, swayed back and forth. Nothing fell though.

  • Well, looks like I missed out on this. :( I work in Towson and live just north of 695 exit 22. Normally I am up at 430am, so I would have felt it....except today I didn't have to be in to work early and slept it. Thanks for posting the video. I had no idea anything happened until my sister in Ohio text me a few minutes ago and asked if I felt anything.

  • @ejbock Your welcome. I am glad you all checked it out on here. I am normally up late anyway, that's why I felt it and posted it.. I tried calling the non emergency number locally and also radio and tv stations to see if they heard anything, I couldn't get through to anyone. I checked the usgs website, reported it right away, then about 20 min later they broadcasted this.

  • thanks for recording this :)

  • @PrincessAvon1 You are welcome!

  • This one I was up for and didn't even feel it. I thought it was a car passing down my street with his radio volume all the way up to 100 because we get that a lot. I'm in my kitchen on the computer. Dad watching TV. A minor shake starts and he asked me "was that an Earthquake?!" I'm in my head, I said "Dad, this is Maryland not California." but I said no. About 20 minutes later, he flips to WJZ and we see this.

  • I was in Watertown, NY and turned on WWNY. I did not feel anything.

  • So of the past 2 years, we have had an earthquake each year... is Maryland feeling the affects of a fault becoming more active?

  • now another earthquake struck most of the east coast. virginia was where it realy happened but fellt all throgh new england new york P.A and more staes including MD. i was scared. now we got a hurrican now .

  • i was at rehoboth beach in delware . i woke up round 5 or 5:30 and i heard bout the earthquake but i think when i turned the tv on its was the weather channel when i heard about it then i turned on wjz.

  • Omg that was on my birthday! I had just turned 15 that day! But I NEVER felt anything! -.-

  • @HowsaBowsaYowsa It's weird about earthquakes when they are about to happen. Sometimes it seems that there is this sudden complete silence like all the critters in the neighborhood are waiting. Occasionally when this happens I strain to hear the noise and every once in awhile I can tell by the approaching noise if I have to hang onto my bed or not. And Cal natives generally know by motion what kind of tectonic plate shifted. There are different jolts to them.

  • I heard this and got a good laugh. "Look mom," I said to my mother, "see even where you left has earthquakes!" (We live in California. She moved here with her family in 1960.)

  • OMFG I FELT IT TOO AND ITS WORSE WHEN YOU LIVE IN A BASEMENT OF AN APARTMENT!!!!

  • Fuck I was sleeping when this happened
