Star Wars KOTOR: Force Powers

Requested by NatureShallConsumeUs, I made this video to show force powers in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

Apologies if they are not perfect examples, but I made this video quickly while working on the current walkthrough. Please also note most of the enemies don't spawn in KOTOR, so I had limited choice of locations after the Jedi members gained all powers.

'All enemies' means all types of enemies, both living organics & droids. 'Works 100%' means the effect is always the same, even against high level enemies.

Shown in the video are the highest level of each power.

'Universal Powers'

1. Force Wave (Force Push, Whirlwind)
2. Improved Energy Resistance
3. Master Speed (Burst of Speed, Knight Speed)
4. Advanced Throw Lightsaber

'Light Side Powers'

5. Heal (Cure)
6. Master Valor (Force/Knight Valor)
7. Stasis Field (Statis)
8. Destroy Droid (Stun/Disable Droid)

'Dark Side Powers'

9. Insanity (Fear, Horror)
10. Plague (Slow, Affliction)
11. Kill (Wound, Choke)
12. Death Field (Drain Life)
13. Force Storm (Force Lightening)

The following powers are not included because it was hard to visualize the effects.

Force Shield/Armor (Light Side)
Force Suppression/Breach (Universal)
Force Resistance/Immunity (Universal)

thx for making this but i need your opinion what is better kotor or kotor 2?

@blueguy81 It's very hard to say, because they were made by different developers. KOTOR can be very uplifting and satisfying (even if you play as the dark side), but KOTOR2 has a very dark tone all way through whichever side you choose.

At first it was very hard for me to get into KOTOR2 as I loved KOTOR so much, but once I discovered how deep the story is in KOTOR2, it grew on me and now I can't separate two games. Only downside is KOTOR2 is unfinished & so many scenes are cut :D

Sorry for the late reply - if you're on the light side, I'd definitely master Force Wave (or Stasis Field), Destroy Droids, Force Valor, Speed, Heal and Energy Resistance.

It's also useful to have Force Suppression and Force Immunity against Malak. Affect (Dominate) Mind is always useful too :D

is it possible to have a balence in both sides of the Force? As in having some Light and Dark side powers?

May i have a minor question ? I have played kotor 1 and 2 about 10 times ... but i dont remember if i had a power in kotor 1 like rage in kotor 2 ? (it was something like , lifting the enemy and breaking his/her neck) Or what are the rewards for a full ds/ls character ? i only experienced rage in kotor 2 though

@kamhal89 Burst of Speed is useful as a utility if you're playing a pure consular. Master Speed is less useful if all you use is offensive force powers. Force Wave is amazing but some enemies are immune to its damage or stun effect (this is where Stasis Field/Insanity comes in handy). F. Heal isn't a waste if you're playing a LS char, especially if you don't have Imp. Energy Resistance. Plauge is bugged and is almost useless. Saberthrow is only good as a Force Wave alternative for LS characters.

Death Field is like the best Dark Side force power in the game. It's a shame it only has 2 upgrades, I'd love to have it to 3rd upgrade

I would give some useful tips:

-Master Speed is the best force power of the game. 2 extra attacks is just overkill

-Force (F.) Wave is 2nd best force power. It's the best offensive one, it does slightly less damage then force lightning but it's more damage consistent and stuns opponents for 6 s. (Reflex is usually the lowest ST in every enemy)

-F. Kill can 2hit a single foe and while in effect the foe can't attack.

-F. Cure is good, F. Heal is a waste.

-Only get saberthrow if you have f. plague
