@SugarTomAppleRoger Why do you keep saying England? For a start Britain is Scotland,Wales & England. Also during WW2 free men from around the Empire came to join the fight for freedom, The war had nothing to do with extending the Empires power. Also if you look into the history of the Empire, Canada & Australia,N.Z,America they are mosty British/Europeans..Britannia is the mothercountry. Remember your relatives were free men they were not forced, We all have our duty for Country & Empire & Queen

@martynrobin121 I had five relatives in the New Zealand Second division that fought in Battle of Cyrenaica, in the forgotten campaign of WW2. They were very upset about this as they thought they were helping to defend England. As you say, the whole war were Australians and New Zealand were sent was about extending the British Empire for England's power trip. Colonials as they were called were cannon fodder. English troops were kept at home for the victory parades.

@SugarTomAppleRoger When did i ever say that the English done everything alone? Look it up, I said "The British 8th Army won the war in N.Africa", The British 8th Army was made up from Troops from Britain & the Empire and from Alamein-Tripolli-Tunisa they crushed Rommel. Also Britain is England,Scotland,Wales the united 3 lions. And Nelson was the guy protecting Southern England from possible French invasion. That might have something to do with comment!
-
@martynrobin121 It is funny that you think England did everything by itself. By the way, New Zealand and the other countries are not "British". Only England calls itself British. Remember that Nelson said "England expects every man to do his duty". He didn't say "Scotland expects...".

@SugarTomAppleRoger What are you talking about? Scotland,Wales,England they are BRITISH! Also India,Canada,Australia,N.Z,N.I
,S.Africa,etc. were all part of the British Empire known today as the Commonwealth/Queens Realm. It was the British 8th Army! Also the French mostly fought against the British Empire, They were Allies with the Axis after 1940, And the Americans arrived end of 1942, They invaded West Africa occupied by the French. I think its funny how you think britain means england HA! -
@martynrobin121 O come on. There were not just English there. What about the Indians, Scots, Australians, Poles, French, Welsh, New Zealanders, South Africans, Rhodesians, and most of all, the amazing fighting Americans. British indeed! The English played a small part.
-
@SugarTomAppleRoger It was the British 8th Army that defeated the German-Italian Forces in N.Africa. And nobody drove the Axis out, After the Battle of Agheila 1942 the Axis forces were trapped with no escape.
-
tessler. Of course the Americans were involved. They drove the Germans out of North Africa.

No. He died when I was seven. Even then I didn't see him much. All I know is that he was in the Army, fought in Africa and worked on the Manhattan Project. What he did, I don't know.
Thanks!! =)
