@FinalFailure Thanks. Still, I remember I had Necrophobe with less than 10000 HP, since one attack I dealt dealing around 2000 damage killed him, and I found Gilgamesh earlier in the Void.
However, yes, it was a quick battle.

@lucastecchio Gilgamesh doesn't appear if you kill Necrophobe too quickly. I'm not sure, but I think he has to have below 10,000 Hp left for Gilgamesh to appear. So you shouldn't use high damage moves.
I also read that he doesn't appear if you haven't met him in the rift before (although I don't know if it's even possible to avoid that meeting)
He appeared once when I played it, but I couldn't bear the fact that Gilgamesh died, so I reloaded and killed Necrophobe myself.

@lucastecchio I did this question 2 years ago and yet no one answered me. Strange...

He would later appear in FF12 with a counterfeit of every legendary weapon of every game up to that point.

Gilgamesh is the Charlie Sheen of Final Fantasy

@Envy56789 Oh yeah, right.
But didnt he said he was just walking trough the void all the time?

@Gilgameshff12 Yep! :) In Dissidia 012, it explains that he was hopping across all of the worlds, searching for Bartz so he could finally fight him again.
My thory is that he survived this just like the characters who were killed in the final battle.
And after that he traveled to the other final fantasys and wasn't able to get back to ff5

RiP Gilgamesh
1994-2006.
Legend has it that while he spent his time in the void, he visited the other Final Fantasy worlds, so as you see him here, he returns to the void wiser and more considerate towards Bartz and friends he begins his life and ends it in this game, and his other appearances are simply bits of history inbetween.
He also visited our world, as a Babylonian King!
