A protest on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin. The students are either wanting a bigger stipend or their entire education paid for. But, I couldn't figure out which. Either way, many of them are marching and drinking a beer at the same time to show solidarity with their American counterparts.

Although there were a lot of communist banners, I think the parade succeeded more in opening up a market for bratwurst and beer on the periphery of the demonstration. Of course, I was having a bratwurst.

The protest was directed against the increasing commercialization and commodification of public education and the Bologna process.

On that day more than 250,000 students, pupils, parents and teachers took to the streets in protest for a free and emancipatory public education system.

I can't see any communist banners or people drinking beer.

You are right, alcohol should not be consumed during demonstrations and protests in general.
