Hand to hand combat is a LAST resort if your weapon fails you. It would be preferred to never have to use deadly force of any kind, but if my family's safety or my own is at stake, all bets are off. If you are trained in fighting that is great, but if the bad guy has a gun/knife/accomplice the odds are very much not in your favor anymore.

You are absolutely right. Ban guns and the criminal that is willing to break into your home rape your wife and pillage your home sure won't bring a gun with him. Simply ask the invader to wait while you call 911 and get your family to safety. And don't worry the police will be at your door as soon as you finish dialing 911. I didn't hear Mr. Gitty say anytime in his video that people have no experience with firearms. He suggested those who don't have any experience get some.
