In part 2 see strobx1 completing the "Cast Porches" of the Kristen, Marisha, Ednea & Doniss Furnaces. The name SPRING LAKE IRON & STEEL CHARLES WESLEY WORKS COMPLEX 1 comes from 3 companies which were or are currently in operation. SPRING LAKE IRON & STEEL comes from the REAL "Spring lake Iron Works" located on the north shore of SPRING LAKE in Fruitport Michigan. Being one of the most productive of charcoal fired blast furnaces in the USA at the time, it employed 400 men and produced about 957,000 tons of solid "pig iron" for "Bessemer steel" from 1879 until March of 1912. The name "CHARLES WESLEY WORKS" is based upon the famous US Steel "Edgar Thompson Works" near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. CHARLES WESLEY is the first and middle name of my Dad who died in 1981. Finally "COMPLEX 1" comes from the ex INLAND STEEL / ISPAT South Chicago works which we stumbled upon while going west on "Cline(?)" Avenue US912. You come to a sign which states. "ARCELOR/MITTEL COMPLEX A" and later "ARCELOR MITTEL COMPLEX B" Both of which are exits off US912 and the buildings are very close to the highway.
