Jesus' birth and mission were foretold, Luke 1: 26-38 (Isa. 7: 14; 9: 6-7; 1 Ne. 11). Was born, Luke 2: 1-7 (Matt. 1: 18-25). Video extracts from Jesus of Nazareth DVD by Lionsgate set to Amy Grant's "Little Town of Bethlehem".

Originally made for TV in 1977, this in-depth (six hours plus) version of Jesus' life is so thorough that the first hour is devoted solely to the story of his birth. The film doesn't skimp on some of the other landmark events of this famous story either. Director Franco Zeffirelli gives more than 12 minutes screen time each to the Last Supper and the Crucifixion. Passages of the Bible are quoted verbatim, the locations have a Palestine-like authenticity, and, aside from some of the principals (Robert Powell as Jesus, Olivia Hussey as Mary, and Stacy Keach as Barabbas),

  • Jesus was a Jew and born on the Jewish calendar. Like Passover, his birthday

    varies with the lunar cycles.

  • Many do celebrate Pentacost on Sivan 6 (50 days after Passover). God gave the Torah on Sivan 6,and I think God gave Jesus on the same day. Christmas is a commercial holiday celebrating a pagan Sol Invictus. And the feast of St, Nicolaus celebrates the good works of that ancient priest. But the most important celebrations should be about God's gifts. The next major gift to come is the Kingdom of God on the Earth.

  • theres a reason why the almighty father didnt give a specific time and date that Jesus Christ was born..the same also as Jesus didn't give a specific time and day when His coming back..therefore we well just celebrate His birth on december and prepare ourselves for His coming.

  • i love you jesus christ...i love you

  • @HaveaBlessedDay Amen, I agree.

  • @alieninzurich Actually the belief is that Jesus was born in September during the Feast of Tabernacles, 6 mos after John the Baptist was born which was during the Passover which was in the spring. But Jesus is still the reason for celebrating Christmas even if it is in December. Its about his birth, death and resurrection and free gift of salvation to mankind.

  • @HaveaBlessedDay I don't believe Jesus was born in december (winter).just read the bible than u can found out the truth. Jesus was born in Summer !!!

  • i love Jesus so much^^

  • 8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

    .........merry CHRISTmas........

  • the look that he gives joseph and 1:17 to about 1:20 makes me melt!!i love you jesus!
