Single-payer health insurance is seen by many healthcare workers and citizens as the best tool for expanding coverage while reducing costs. But it is rarely discussed in the media. ABC's prime time forum "Prescription for America," which ABC host Diane Sawyer pledged would feature questions to President Obama from "every vantage point," featured no questions from single-payer advocates.

The media watch-group FAIR is launching a petition to the TV networks, demanding that single-payer be included in the debate over healthcare reform.

  • I had high hopes when Obama was elected. But now i see he is just like the rest of our politicians. Bought and paid for by corporate america. The corporations decide who our canidates are. they also decide what bills are passed. So much for Government by the people. It's government by the corporations, for the corporations and against the people. That's the way america has been for generations. Wake up people. things will change only when the people rise up and overthrow this corrupt system.

  • The american "Media" is full of "Medi-ocres." The "associated press" is the worst thing that had happenned to the newsworld. Associated press means: Control of information, you will only hear what the powers want you to hear/see. Even the whole idea of democracy in the USA is a fraud. Think about it: Over 250,000,000 americans and only 2 parties to choose from? Pre-approved candidates that do whatever they are told to? The reality Obama = McCain = Bush = any other president you will see. Sadly!!

  • Single payer protests will only strengthen private insurers as we have seen for the most part in the PPACA passage. Physicians for National Health Care need their heads examined. They have the power to build a system but instead turn to protesting against the wind.

  • @mediacritic Only it that was really true. The banks are the government. We just pay the interest through increasing taxes. If we are the government how is it that the government has private property that the owners cannot tread on?

  • Single payer health is a much bigger falure then what we have.

  • Funny thing is that is exactly what was told to those who opposed the Bush regime for the past 8 years. We were told to leave it we didn't want war. The joke is hilarious!

  • These Bohemain Grove Bastards need to be voted out, and forced to live the rest of their lives as did the lepers did years ago. Even that would be too good for them. Anyone have a flesh eating virus they could spare?

  • what more will be cut using this healthcare program if the economy gets worse?

  • Actually it's MUCH more amazing how many idiots claim to be patriots of this nation, and swallow the crap that comes out of the White House. Obama has taken our $900 billion national debt, and is raising it to $9 trillion!!! And yet these people refuse to wake up and realize that our current administration is screwing us over. Obama's defenders are saying that those that disagree with what he is doing/saying are either racist, or is un-American. I am an Amaerican I served in the military!!!

  • .......and you call me a dipshit. Since when is the population considered private business? Ignoring your voters is not healthy for your career to be sure. Even if they do vote like the people they represent want now, I beleive it's to late for them. Watch what happens next election cycle. I'll bet money Republicans will be voted in left and right. Sad thing is most aren't any better then the current Democrats.

  • Dipshit, the government (We the People) would be the payer, NOT the provider. The funds would come from everyone who wants to buy into the public option. And yes, they are ignoring their populations because so many of them are whores to soft money from big business.

  • Funny they are anwerable to us yet they are entirely ignoring their populations and their wants, not only in this area, but in many others as well. You call taxation to pay for this privately provided? You're backwards as the day is long. You destroy your own arguement and clearly are to dumb to understand what you say yourself. Watch what happens in the next elections is all I have to say.
