Analogies aside, I don't really know what to make of Lupe. I don't agree with him politically, I don't like his comments about A Tribe Called Quest, I'm not that crazy about his music, and I definitely don't like him forcing Pete Rock into a corner with this pointless remake. TROY is easily one of the greatest songs ever made and does not need to be remade by anyone, for any reason, period.

Imagine if I'm a film director and wanted to make some big, sweeping statement about the nature of congressional politics in 2013, but decided I wanted to remake Casablanca in order to get my message across. Some people may think it's cool that I essentially changed Casablanca to fit my agenda; some may wonder why it was necessary to stuff a classic movie full of my political beliefs. Some people may wonder why I couldn't just do an original fucking movie and leave Casablanca alone.
