well maybeif u subtracted all the water animals and air(birds+insects) animals and alot of dogs are just mixes of other dogs so I would thing it would just be the basic animals not every breed of them. Thats What I believe.

@Powerfuzz18 I was counting only land animals, birds were on the ark, and yes there are many species that have branched off from one species. thats why i need and accurate count. even still i have exhausted myself trying to figure it out.

I believe what you're struggling with may be the issue of breed vs species. For example, the ark wouldn't need 2 of every bulldog, greyhound, etc. - all it would need is 2 wolves, which contain all the genes necessary to create bulldogs, greyhounds, dalmatians, etc. Same as it wouldn't need all the different kinds of horses, just the common ancestor.
