Cellist Sharon Robinson says the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio musicians have stayed together for more than three decades because of respect for one another, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor. PreViews writer Jennifer Pencek speaks with Robinson about how a last-minute cancellation led to the trio's formation. Robinson also talks about a new work by Andre Previn, co-commissioned by the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State, and the rest of the trio's scheduled program for October 2012 at Schwab Auditorium. An excerpt of the ensemble's recording of Beethoven's Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1, enhances this video. The recording, used with permission, is from the album "Beethoven: The Complete Cycle of Trios Volume One," copyright 2007 Koch Records.
