  • i say this is neither a trojan or a virus but a voluntary disk clean up application :)

  • Imagine you had a bad virus on your cpu and you play this game because your like "Whats the point? The virus is killing my pc anyways." So you start and the first one you shoot deletes the virus!!! That would be awesome.

  • @ShinChanRules5 Agreed on both points. The majority of gamers appear to be unaffected or only so lightly affected that it doesn't make any difference, but for instance the guy who did the massacre in Norway claimed that he learnt to kill playing Modern Warfare 2. Thing is, those games only affect you that way if something else went fundamentally wrong already.

Still, I remember the days when video games were about a lot more than killing. Sad that these days are past in the mainstream genre.

  • @Aironfaar Ahh, now I see what point you're making, but as long as the killing stays virtual and doesn't cross into real-life territory or affect the players mentally, games about killing are okay (although unfortunately it DOES cross into real-life territory and affects players mentally at times, which means I just nullified my own point. Oops.) Although I can't help but think that perhaps there could be a different way of getting the point across than deleting files at random...

  • @ShinChanRules5 That's the point of the game's philosophy. What normal person plays a game and doesn't think "I wonder what I'm going to kill today!" in some way? The graphics etc. may be utterly unrealistic, but it still shows today's mindset. Video games = killing virtual stuff, at least in the popular ones. I'm not opposed to that and there are enough games where killing isn't the main point, but what does it tell you about a community if a major entertainment media is largely about killing?

  • @Aironfaar Oh, come on. What normal person sees an 8-bit space shooter and thinks, "Man, I probably shouldn't shoot these pixelated alien spaceships, that's not right..." :P

  • mac is shit anyway

  • Playing the game does NOT cause file loss. It tells you how to shoot, that the game deletes itself if you die, that you delete files by killing aliens, that your score increases by shooting aliens, but it doesn't tell you ANYWHERE that you're supposed to shoot any aliens. That's the whole point! Here's a quote from the website:

"Why do we assume that because we are given a weapon an awarded for using it, that doing so is right?"

This game is a philosophical art project, not friggin' malware!

  • for a second there i thought you were trying to warn me that there was a REAL virus inside this game but u were actully trying to warn me what the website and the game have told me in BIG BOLD LETTERS

  • mac deserves it!

  • The final boss is system32.

  • This is not a "virus", "trojan", or "malicious" program, due to the simple fact that it in no way hides or pretends to be anything other than harmful. It states right on the tin that if you play this game it will delete your files. The website gives this warning in big bold letters.

If you manage to download, install, and play this game, it's your own damn fault.

It's like having a big red button that's labeled, "Press this button to kill yourself". Don't go complaining if you press it .
