This is how to make a home made rabbit snare...

If you can't find stainless steel wire, brass or copper will work just as well.

Make sure your string is very strong. I like to use a braided twine that is treated with a non-slip coating to prevent knot slippage.

If you happen to make some and set them, let me know how you make out.

Always be repectful of land owners and get permission...Stay away from residential areas to avoid pets...Post your area to advise other hunters of your snares, and always respect the environment.

Never set snares until you know your local laws...You can do this by checking your local DNR...(Department of Natural Resources)

Check out the video response below "Snaring Rabbits - Checking Rabbit Snares". The proof is in the pudding. It works!

Rabbit stew anyone? Maybe later I will do a rabbit recipe vid. There is more than one way to skin a rabbit. I am going to also make a "skinning a rabbit and field dressing a rabbit" vid once the season opens. Snaring rabbits is a great way to get out in nature and pass away the winter blues. Rabbit trap, trapping rabbits, snaring animals, catching animals, Catching rabbits, collet a lievre, piege, shooting rabbits, hunting rabbits, rabbit hound, Snowshoe hare, jack rabbit, rabbit habitat, wildlife habitat, survival technique, survival tactics, Yarmouth Nova Scotia Canada.

Be responsible and check them daily. Good luck in the woods!

The music I used in the background of this video is Judas Priest "you've got another thing coming" one of my favorite bands...Go and buy their music, they rule.

Other animals that are snared or trapped are Beaver, muskrat, mink, otter, raccoon, squirrel, rats, bobcat, lynx, martin, albino, fox, coyote, wolves, wolverines, bear.

arnab, tavsan, napastak, trusis, haas, konyn, kanin, konijntje, konijn, hase, krolik, kouneli, conill, coniglio, coniglietto, cuniculus, lepus, iepure, conejo, zayek, kralik, kunic, zajko, zec, zayets, yah toi, tu zi, nyuszi.

  • I hope that I'll never actually need to make one of these...but over the past few months, I've been giving some thought to what I might be able to do if this country ever suffered a serious catastrophe which temporarily or permanently disrupted a lot of the systems which we rely on and take for granted. Knowledge is power, after all...and one of the drawbacks of modern technology is the potential loss of simple survival skills which are completely independent of that technology.

  • @crazedfarmer Thank you.

  • @FeralTyneMan the idea of it is that you use it on a frequently used animal trail, or you could put it anywhere i guess

  • @FeralTyneMan he has a video on it, but basically you need to find a obvious path rabbits take and pick the narrowest spot in the trail and set it there

  • Hi. Maybe a silly quesion but I really don't know. I'm just getting in to all of this so I really don't know: When you set the snare, how is the rabbit trapped? I don't mean the mechanism, I mean how is it baited etc? Or is it just random wondering over it by chance?

  • cool we are doin a school project on snarin rabbits thanks for the help

  • I need some help. I know how to make the traps, but where is a good spot to set the trap and what else do i need to do?
