  • Is that a Grizzly in the background? :D At 2:11

    That´s a snowmobile! xD

  • @IamGrizzly89 Hey Grizz, it is! I was wondering who would be the first to see and recognize that twin track pulling machine! It is a ex forest service rig I bought out of the scrap yard. I got Er running and would like to restore Er to original condition. That single ski up front is a weird steer I have to say! Lot's of fun, and will pull logs out of the woods all day long. Thanks for noticing. DeVere

  • Hi "Griz 89". Well, OMC only made these for a few years. I would say they are "rare as hens teeth"! I also have two non running Johnson Rotary sleds along with a second one like the one in the video. I am fascinated with the simple rotary engine concept and I have ideas about improving that engine with a supercharger and variable ratio compression while it is actually running! With fuel injection and even a diesel option, this would be the ultimate engine. I hope I have time and money to finish.

The Evinrude sleds was really modern at time? Just look at them! Take the ski doo models from 72-73!? Or Arctic cat and polaris!? That´s nice!

  • @IamGrizzly89 Hey Grizz, yeah I always thought they were the most luxurious of ANY sled of that era! Heck, they even came with a factory cigar liter under the front access panel that is hinged! Mine still work! They were kinda like the "Cadillac" of sleds! Not exactly "trail burners", but they were not "pigs" either. A few times I almost let mine get away from me! Have to pay attention and HANG on!

  • reverse???

  • Yeah! and you can go as fast reverse as forward! (Not that safe however, but a lot of fun!) It is the "pull" lever on the extreme right side of the panel to the lower left of the ignition.

  • Worth restoring, nice machine.

  • why cant i find any videos on running rotarys other than this one.... oh yea, why dont they use rotarys anymore?

  • The intake pulled intake air through the rotor. Flat ended spark plug.

  • Since all my google searches have been coming up short. Can anyone classify the "name", Logo" or Models of Evinrude/johnson/OMC sleds that came with the Rotary engines. From all the reading I have done online there is not a lot of info about them. I ask this because I know that some Evinrudes had two stroke motors in them and when I find one I want to make sure it has a rotary motor not a two smoker lol.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer this question.

    regards

    -Jason

  • those rotary engines, do you mix oil in the fuel or do they have their own oil in the engine?

  • @DMontyB

It´s not a wierd steering! No no, dual tracked snowmobiles have that, all the ski doo dual track sleds have it also accept the elite. There are aome other dual track sleds that have 2 skis and some of them have none! I got a Grizzly xp and there is nothing that can make me get stuck with it! ;) Aktiv is according to me the best sleds ever made!
