Hoorah, the first part of my ambitious double feature, "Fright Nite" has been completed!

The video is intermission, set between my Alien Penguin movie and my friends Grindhouse style "Welcome to Dead House." The intermission's significance is threefold, providing a transition in time periods, genres, and setting.

As the film progresses, we begin in 1947 with "Let's All Go to The Lobby" prior to my 50s style Alien invasion movie. Then, as this second intermission ends, we're in 1977 with "Suspiria." Even in intermission itself, we go from the 50s with the end of my movie, to the 60s with "The Astro Zombies," the early 70s with "Tales from the Crypt," and finally the late 70s with "Suspiria."

Fright Nite has the trouble of balancing camp and fear, with my film being incredibly campy and fun, to Dead House being scary with elements of B-Movie camp. Intermission has the Astro Zombies first, and incredibly campy, goofy film, and it ends with the unintentionally funny but certainly scary trailer for Suspiria. This also changes the mood gradually from my comedy to my friend's zombie gore fest.

Lastly, the intermission helps make the movie an authentic double feature, like one that would play in a Drive-In movie from the 1950s (Night of the Attack of the 50-Foot Atomic Alien Penguin Robots From Outer Space), or the more sleazy 1970s grindhouse (Welcome to Dead House). To blend from one locale (the drive-in) to a totally different cinematic world (the grindhouse), yet still present a history of the B-Movie, we start with the tame "Astro Zombies," which would doubtlessly play in a drive-in. However, Drive-Ins can be seen from the street, so something as gruesome as "Suspiria" would play in the interior of a movie house made for churning out double bills of exploitation films.

I apologise for YouTube ruining the quality. Hopefully, I can fix it soon enough.

  • @kyriakos63 Thank you! I've come across some better quality footage for most of the segments, so I hope to re-upload it soon. :)
