@MasterTxJ There are other ways to rule out birds or insects... Flight behavior is one way and the other takes some experience with night vision. He is more than likely focused on infinity. If this is the case, bugs would show up as round, translucent orb like objects. If they were birds, at this speed wold suggest they are close enough to see their wings. Not birds, insects or planes.

in order to rule out birds or insects one should be able to determen the distance to the object filmed. More basic example is to use 2 night vision cameras mounted to the same horizontal bar, with some space so as to be able to do simple parallax measurements.
