@lance22me Technically, the 2nd Amendment doesn't apply to states, and the Court didn't say it does, it's the Due Process Clause (or Privileges and Immunities Clause, under Thomas' opinion) which applies the right to keep and bear arms against the states. I don't think it's fair to criticize one political wing, I think the Court got this one right but the majority wouldn't have been able to rule the way they did without using the framework set by liberal precedents.

The 4 Justices who voted against this ruling are not upholding the US Constitution, they are ignoring the US Constitution and putting forward their own beliefs.
Leftist judges MAKE leftist laws through by circumventing the democtratic system of the legislative through their infuriatingly inventive and nonsensical wild interpretations which allow them to ignore the real rights of Americans as written in black and white while inventing non-existent ones...

Isn't it funny that two years ago every lib said that the 2nd amendment didn't apply to DC because DC isn't a state. Then they turn around and say that the 2nd amendment doesn't apply to states, just Federal entities. So - the political left makes any argument they want as it suits them, even when their arguments are self disproving and contradictory. But - it's the left that preaches the 'ends justify the means' so I''m sure their lying is ok.

Agreed. 5-4 was WAAAAAY too close. Our Freedom shouldn't be held hostage by liberals but there it is. Conservative constitutionalists are just barely holding on the the Court. We HAVE to win back Congress this election or the next one may not go in our favor. The White House is a lost cause until 2012 but we can do something about Congress this year.
