Following the massive flooding and tornadoes that swept through Iowa in 2008, Iowa United Methodists have been responding to the disaster. Many Iowans as well as church and college mission teams from around the country have traveled to Iowa to help with the recovery, but more help and funding is urgently needed. There are still over 5,000 homes to be rebuilt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, alone.
This video, with an introduction by Rev. Julius C. Trimble, Bishop of the Iowa Area of the United Methodist Church (The Iowa Annual Conference), shows the devastation, the work that has been ongoing and the large amount of work yet to be done. Viewers are provided with information about how they can contact the Disaster Recovery Hotline to volunteer their time.
