Although I support the Change4Life campaign I object to telling kids that if they eat too much they could get cancer, heart disease or type 2 diabetes. There are too many kids with eating disorders as it is without scaring them with things like this.

"Eat less, move more" should be the message.

  • Part 1

Although the ASA have received a number of complaints about the "Me Sized Meals" advert they have decided that no action is necessary.

That's great, telling kids they can get cancer from eating is acceptable, but a Wonderbra model is not.

Perhaps the nice people at Aardman and the ASA would like to explain to my kids, and kayceprincess what they really mean when they say "If you eat too much you could get.....heart disease, CANCER, or type 2 diabetes....nasty".

    CONTINUES BELOW:

  • Part 2

Try defining what "too much" is to a child. It's like trying to explain a period of time - an hour is months away to a kid and the concept of arbitrary amounts is completely abstract!

  • As long as people do nothing they will be treated as data.

  • I remember what triggered my "mild" eating disorder was all the talk about weight and eating, and I watched a kids' nutrition show and got ideas from it as a lot of what the chefs on the show cooked was diet food ( imagine a chef suggesting square inch sandwiches of skinless chicken and fat free dressing, diet soda, and decorated carrot sticks for a little girl's birthday party!).

  • hahaha

  • Thats so ture!!!!

I don`t think food should be seen as a heart disease,Cancer or type 2 diabetes.Food should be seen as something we need to live!!!!....As you know every since the change4life tv ad started showing i`v had problems with getting my 5 year old to eat anything other than salads!!!.......
