I love Einhander! It's not only my favorite 2D shooters ever. It's my favorite game of all time! I've never got bored while I played it, because it has its great graphics for the PS1 shooters, finely-tuned music, fascinating plot, fun weapons, and amazing gameplay. The difficulty of this game is fairly challenging as well, and it's one of the shooters that has checkpoints. Kenichiro Fukui did an incredible job on composing Einhander music. Here is my replay of Einhander.

Since you didn't die once, any chance you unlocked something other than the Unknown II?

Maybe a level select feature? Probably not, somebody would have reported it on gamefaqs by now.
