  • Amazing the people that make a hobby of trying to spot every possible deviation from "best practice". Cool video, good to see some homebuilding going on.

  • Great work! Very good video and amplifier! :)

  • EPIC MUSIC ROOM!!

  • i know this was posted a year ago but really...come on

  • Actually I'm doing a 2A3 PSE with a 2.5K OPT......I'm still debating to go with the Edcor OPT or suck it up & go with the Plitron toroidal. Having a custom wound OPT is no big deal, Jack at Electraprint will wind to your own spec. So will SP Wound in the UK. I have spent a dozen or so man hours so far just on the chassis with a hundred more to go. The cheap $29.99 chassis shown here ain't nothin to shout about. The two dollar Chinese sockets don't inspire me either.

  • Again, only an idiot would work on an electric circuit while it was juiced up. Which is obviously not the case here.

  • Yep, transformer holding the chasis well. Nothing wrong with touching tubes without gloves. Been doing it for 15 years now, and not once has there been a tech issue or even a cosmetic issue with it. Of course you don't want to touch a hot tube with your bare hands. There will be no shock as he is not a moron and does not have any juice running through the circuit. The caps have never been charged. Duh!

  • These output transformers are specially wound just for decware amplifiers.

  • Partly true, the quartz devitrifies where the fingermarks are, looks bad but damage is considered cosmetic. However in general things are better not contaminated if it can be avoided. On some specialist tubes/valves fingermarks and similar can promote surface flashovers on ceramic.
