Dslruser.co.uk's web editor Charlotte Griffiths gets a sneak preview of Olympus's latest Four Thirds DSLR, the EA-1. Positioned between the E-520 and the E-3, this new camera uses the E-3's 11-point AF system, and multi angle LCD screen and incorporates the E-systems image stabilisation, 5 stops correction, and improved weather sealing. Due to be available around early 2009.

This camera looks quite big :P Would be a nice addition to my E500. But than the price... Here in Holland: € 1488 fot the body + 14-54mm F2.8-3.5 II lens... Quite a lot of money.

thank you for clarifying that, I thought the Olympus EA-1 would be a completely different camera entirely.

This proto type had been released as E30.
If the full articulated screen is your thing, Olympus had released another model for half the price, E620.
Of course, the performance-wise, the two models are not the same.

It was to be called the EA1 but it's certainly the E30 now.
I'm doing a review of it in the March '09 DSLR User magazine.

Unless you have more information on it than the rest of us then PLEASE do tell us.
Freaking smart ass. Olympus is being very quiet about it but what do you know.
