This is a cover of JJ Lin Jun Jie's "Down". YuYu made this for her VHS class. She had written a poem called "Reincarnation"; her final project was to take a work that she had already written, transform it, then add an extra element. So, she based these lyrics off of her poem, and made the video to go along with the song. Basic storyline: There's a guy who's on a carousel. He starts to reflect on his younger years, which feel like a completely different lifetime to him (hence "Reincarnation"); he thinks about his mother, his father, and the girl he loved- she was an apsara (a traditional dancer for the king). Then, the Khmer Rouge regime took over, and the three people he loved most died in the killing fields of Cambodia. At some point, he is able to immigrate to America. On the carousel, not only is he reflecting on what his life was like, he is also imagining what life would've been like had his mother, father, and love survived.
Lyrics:

He wants to believe it
But he's only dreaming
Of bittersweet days
A lifetime has passed him
Nighttime air trapped him
Under the stars

It was on this carousel for one night
He'd remember everything
So let's just pretend, let's imagine
That this carnival is simply an illusion
And so the ride started
His heart had forgotten
This feeling of love

And so it goes, he couldn't hold back a smile as she rose
As they embraced he wouldn't let her go
You're the most precious gem I'll ever own
My little boy, do you not know?
Fresh, cooling water, rambutan-like sweet
As he goes round and round and
Son, don't you know that you mean so much to me
Father, now I understand

It was on this carousel for one night
He'd remember everything
So let's just pretend, let's imagine
That this carnival is simply an illusion
And so the ride started
His heart had forgotten
This feeling of love

And I just knew, I'd felt that baby I'd always love you
Speaking these words as her eyes held his gaze
The power of their dreams had him amazed
Kampuchea held those lost days
The only thing he wanted was to stay
But he went round and round and
Life flutters by like those springtime butterflies
With his face raised to the sky

Forever, truth would keep them together
