OMG, memories! In 1988 I was watching friends button up a Cessna Bird Dog on floats while on a dolly at KAWO; Once done they ran it up and it checked out, so we towed it to a side runway, aligned the dolly, unhooked and let the plane track, lift and climb. Problem was...at 100 feet the engine sputted and quit. No time to restart, pilot went off to grass, step-landed and did a perfect job, until...
AWESOME! i can watch float planes taking off from trailers after doing maintenance all day every day and still be amazed.
