The Stop-Line Law must also be enforced to teach respect for pedestrian safety
Cyclist could've stopped @ Mentone LSC crossing. Seen this sort of thing before? http://petedoweroadsafetyadvocate.blogspot.com/2010/09/beach-road-cycling-no-... http://petedoweroadsafetyadvocate.blogspot.com/2010/09/beach-road-cycling-no-... If you're headed down to Beach Road watch out for the cyclists! Cyclists are not legitimate road users unless they use the roads legitimately. We must state this clearly and loudly and often that cyclists have responsibilities and stop advocating 'any kind of cycling more often!' http://www.amygillett.org.au/documents/Cycling%20Org_Ltr%20to%20Editor.pdf
Walking is also good for cardiovascular and diabetes and obesity, recreation and commuting. And it was already popular and it didn't cost a 'cracker'. Pity about the cyclists! Pedestrians are the most vulnerable of road users: 4 times more likely to die in a collision than any other road user. Because they have no protection. In more ways than one! What's changed with the cycling community's hypocritical, unidentifiable, cowardly disregard for pedestrian safety? http://petedoweroadsafetyadvocate.blogspot.com/2010/06/beach-road-cycling-hel... What will change? James Gould was killed on this crossing on August 26th 2006. "But it was just one death" or "Bikes can't hurt pedestrians" or "It's rare cyclists collide with pedestrians" or "A car would've done more damage" or "I don't run red lights and no one I know does" TALK ABOUT WEASEL WORDS! It's Time to Walk the Talk on legitimate road usage or you're not a legitimate road user! "Cyclists and Red Lights a study of behaviour of Commuter Cyclists in Melbourne" Marilyn Johnson, Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) http://www.rsconference.com/pdf/RS080140.pdf?check=1
